Here is a list of the top ten current dancers in the world of Ballet. In the world of classical dance, female names are better known, but that doesn’t mean that there are very successful professional dancers.

Sergei Polunin 

Ukranian dancer born in 1989. At only 19 years old he managed to be the yopungest principal dancer in teh Royal Ballet of London.

He is currently one of the principal dancers of the Russian Academic Musical Theater of Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Dánchenko of Moscow and also of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet of Novosibirsk. Polunin has received many awards such as the Lausanne Prize and the Youth America Grand Prix.

 

Roberto Bolle

Roberto Bolle was born in Milan and is known for his classical interpretations. He has danced at the Royal Ballet in London, the Tokyo Ballet and the Staatsoper in Berlin.

He has also danced with great female artists such as Alessandra Ferri or Carla Fracci.

 

Carlos Acosta

He was born in Havana. He finished his studies in 1991 at the National School of Ballet of Havana. He has been in several renowned companies such as the Nuovo Theater in Turin, the English National Ballet of England and the Houston Ballet of the United States.

He is currently a guest artist for such prestigious companies as the Royal Ballet of London, the American Ballet Theater in New York and the Kirov Ballet of St. Petersburg.

 

Julio Bocca

Probably one of the most important dancers of all time in Argentina, Bocca is recognized worldwide. He has danced in the most renowned academies worldwide.

In 1986 he is invited to the American Ballet and in 1990 he created his own ballet company, the Argentine Ballet, which since 2005 is artistic director. Despite being retired, he deserves to be on his list for his career.

 

Marcelo Gomes

Marcelo Gomes was born in Brazil and is an important dancer who studied at the Paris Opera Ballet, the Houston Ballet, the Boston Ballet and the Cuban Ballet.

In 1997 he joined the academy of American Ballet and in 2000 he became a soloist. It wasn’t until two years later that he became the principal dancer of the academy.

Daniil Simkin

Russian dancer who grew up in a family of dancers. He has danced with campaigns such as the Lithuanian Ballet or the Vienna State Opera.

In October of 2008 she becomes soloist of the American Ballet. Probably a star is growing.

Manuel Legris

French dancer who in 1976 entered the Paris Opera. After ten years in this theater, he managed to become the star dancer of the Opera.

Legris has danced in prestigious companies and renowned theaters like the Mariinski. He has received ten times the Nijinski Prize.

 


Isaac Hernández

Son of professional ballet dancers, Isaac Hernández is considered the first Mexican to dance with the Mariinsky theater and the Paris Opera.

At the age of 16 he won the gold medal at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, one of the most important dance competitions. In 2013 he became the principal dancer of the National Ballet of Holland. Two years later he entered in the National Ballet of England.

Ángel Corella

Spanish dancer who has became the principal artist of the American Ballet Theater in New York.

Corella has won many prizes, such as the Grand Prix and gold medal at the International Dance Competition in Paris and also one of the most important competitions such as the Prix of Benois.

Herman Cornejo

Argentine dancer who studied at the academy of American Ballet, and later in 1995, he joined the Argentine Ballet of Julio Bocca.

Cornejo became the principal dancer of the American Ballet in 2003, and has received numerous awards.

 

Federico Bonelli

Italian dancer well known for his interpretations of the main classical roles. He began his studies at the Ballet Academy in Turin.

In 2003 he became the principal dancer of the Royal Ballet of London.
